U.S. Department of State Seeking Academic Exchange Specialist


JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located in the South and Central Asia Programs Branch (ECA/A/E/SCA), Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) in the US Department of State (DoS). The incumbent serves as an Academic Exchange Specialist who initiates, develops, administers, and evaluates international academic exchange programs and other activities supporting ECA's strategic goal to promote international understanding.
 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Relocation expenses will NOT be paid.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • One year probationary period, unless excepted by regulation.
  • Domestic and Overseas travel may be required.
  • Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.

DUTIES:

Supports the management of the two way flow of students and scholars between the US and countries in South and Central Asia and other academic exchange activities sponsored by the Office of Academic Exchange programs (ECA/A/E). Administers guidelines established through ECA, Fulbright-Hays legislations, the William J. Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FSB), the Foreign Affairs Manual, and Exchange Visitor Program (J visa) regulations. Assembles, maintains, and reports on program and budget statistics. Monitors and evaluates programs' progress through analysis of annual reports and consultations with grantees, PAS staff, cooperating agency staffs, and others. Reviews annual budgets and grant proposals for U.S. organizations or institutions for the administration of international academic exchange programs.
