Student Opportunity: Street Law Clinic Coordinator

WORK STUDY OPENING
STREET LAW CLINIC COORDINATOR
Law student members of the National Lawyers Guild, Massachusetts Chapter, have conceptualized, created, and run an educational project, Street Law Clinic, which offers workshops for the working class and the poor with essential information about law and law enforcement.
Presently the Project offers seven clinics: 4th Amendment Rights (Stop & Search), Tenant/Landlord Disputes, Civil Disobedience Defense, Immigration Law, Bankruptcy Law/Consumer Protection, Foreclosure & Eviction Prevention, and Workers’ Rights. The clinics are conducted for community organizations, schools, shelters, and unions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1st or 2nd year WORK-STUDY LAW STUDENT;
- very good organizational skills;
- knowledge of Spanish helpful but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- work 10 hours/week minimum;
- schedule training sessions at local law schools at the beginning of each semester;
- contact community groups and schedule clinics;
- line up attorneys and law students to conduct each clinic.
